T2: Synthesis - developing your design concept

After you have Evaluated your Designs Ideas you need to Synthesise your designs.

Synthesis is about developing your best design. You need to say which design idea/s you are developing.

You then need to experiment with your designs by changing small things like the shape, proportions, colours and materials.

Add comments that relate to all the changes you are ‘trying out’. Use SCAMPER to help you:

S - Substitute, C - Combine, A - Adapt, M - Modify, P - Put to another use, E - Eliminate, R - Re-arrange

Make use of Isometric and 2D views. Use markers, technical pens, photoshop or Wacom Tablets where appropriate.

Add comments to justify the choices you have made (but not just state what can be seen).

i.e. Do not say 'The back has a groove cut out of it.'

Say 'The groove section adds style to the camera and makes it easier to grip when using one handed.'

Try to include at least one Ergonomic sketch (with dimensions)! Refer to Ergonomics and Anthropometrics resources.
