User-centred Design
Before we start designing we need to ask a lot of questions regarding the User. The answers to our questions will lead us towards the best solution and empower our designing through insightful understanding. Sometimes we will be able to ask out User/ Client directly but other times we may have to rely on other foms of research. Considering the questions posed in the image is a good starting point. |

Why do we need to come up with a design solution? Have we been presented with a new problem? Has an opportunity arisen that we can take advantage of to design and market a new product?
What?
What is the problem or need? What do we need to consider? |

Who?
Who is the audience / client / end-user? Does the audience affect our design choices? You need to consider:
age, gender, economic status, cultural and religious considerations, emotional and sensory appeal, fashion and trends.
What?
What is the design area in which this solution will be produced?

• Graphic Design
Will it be for corporate / business or for personal use?
How?
How do the requirements for safety, operation, performance, reliability and quality affect design ideas?
