Orthographic Projection - 3rd Angle

Orthographic Projection is a drawing method used to accurately display a 3D view in 2D.

There are two different types - 1st Angle and 3rd Angle.

We will be using 3rd Angle.

To show that a drawing has been done in 3rd Angle we add the following icon to the page.

To create an Orthographic drawing you need to look at the PLAN (Top), FRONT and END views of an object and draw them in the positions indicated below. It is very important that they are drawn in line with each other because that means that any particular dimension only needs to be shown once, because it applies to both views.

Look at the 3D view of the Church shown below and then see how it's views have been 'projected' into Orthographic.
